Traffic signal makes commuting trouble-free

19 Jan

Traffic signals and zebra crossings at Sarjapur Outer Ring Road junction have made commuting easy for motorists as well as pedestrians. Now you can find a traffic signal 200 meters from Suncity apartments in Sarjapur Road.

Around six months back, this junction at Sarjapur Outer Ring road was in a mess, as vehicles used to ply from three directions. There was neither a traffic signal nor there was any zebra crossing at this junction. Pedestrians had a tough time in crossing the junction.”It was scary to walk across the road when vehicles were coming from all three directions,” said Neelam, a pedestrian.
Traffic officials were managing the heavy traffic at the peak hours manually but it was not systematic. “I used to wait for more than 15 minutes to cross the road at this junction

The IT boom in this area has increased the demand for residential properties. Localities close to IT parks at Sarjapur Outer ring road area are preferred. With increasing population, there are more
vehicles on the road. Proper traffic management is the need of the hour at this area.

The construction of flyovers in that area has eased the traffic congestion to some extent and now the installation of traffic signals and zebra crossings has made the management of traffic easier. “It has become very easy to travel in this area now, even during peak hours of the day

Increasing Traffic in Sarjapur Road

02 Jun

Sarjapur is prime stretches connecting Hosur, ORR, Madiwala and its neighborhood. This is the only road used by residents, students and people to reach the main Sarjapur Road. Since neighborhoods around Sarjapur Road are developing, traffic along that road can be expected to increase in the future. The traffic in Sarjapur road is increasing day-by-day and controlling them is very difficult with traffic police overburdened due to insufficient staff.

With the ongoing road widening work in Madiwala, traffic is diverted to Sarjapur road and the stretch of Sarjapur Road between Madiwala checkpost and Krupanidhi College has been converted to two-way. Poor design at junctions, Inadequate parking facilities, inadequate lane width and capacity etc creates problem in smooth movement of traffic. For the pedestrians, this road is a nightmare as walkers are encountered by mounds, potholes and pits throughout the stretch.
The 100-ft road near BDA complex in Koramangala, which houses several important business establishments, already has a traffic problem due to ongoing construction work of an underpass near the Kendriya Sadan complex. The traffic on the 100-ft inner ring road in Koramangala, which connects IT and business hubs in Electronics City, Hosur Road and Sarjapur Road, was completely thrown out of gear.

“Ring Road needs some attention, similar to what they are doing with BTM and neighborhood. The sidewalks are in a terrible shape.” says a resident of Sarjapur road. Other questions without clear answers include the traffic flow arrangements for residents of the Sobha and Sun City complex, particularly to merge into the ring road towards Agara.

There are several commercial establishments on the HSR side towards Silkboard which sit on the current service road. The service lane will turn into a conduit for HSR traffic to merge into the ring road towards Silkboard.  Once again, it is not clear if there will be any roadside parking or pedestrian space available for these shops and other commercial activity.

From Koramangala water tank junction vehicles going towards City Market, Majestic, Adugodi and Shivajinagar proceed further via Madivala check post. Vehicles going towards Koramangala, BDA Complex, Canara Bank, Koramangala, 80 Feet Road and Neelasandra turn left at Koramangala water tank junction for proceeding further.

Vehicles coming from Indiranagar, Domlur, Old Airport Road, Srinivagilu, Ejipura, Neelasandra and going towards Maruthi Nagar, Taverekere, Bannerghatta Road, Madivala check post should proceed directly in front of Kendriya Sadan office without taking a right turn at Koramangala water tank, take a right turn at Madivala Main Road, connect to the road in front of Kallada Travels (near petrol bunk), then take a right turn for going further.

Vehicles coming from Indiranagar, Domlur, Old Airport Road, Srinivagilu, Ejipura, and Koramangala should take a left-turn at Koramangala water tank junction, reach Krupanidhi junction via Sarjapur Road, then take a right-turn, go towards Madivala Market Road, reach Madivala police station junction and take a left turn there for proceeding further.

The police have also advised commuters coming from BTM Layout to use Bannerghatta Road via Jayadeva Hospital to commute to and from city centers instead of coming towards Silk Board. The construction of an underpass is set to be completed in three months. The Bangalore police have advised commuters to avoid taking these roads passing through Forum Mall, Madivala, Checkpost, Koramangala water tank, Krupanidhi College, Madiwala police station and Silk Board as these roads are too narrow and there will be traffic congestion, especially during the peak hours in the morning and evening.
